The root in this area is not covered by gum or bone and is therefore experiencing this sensitivity. If the nerve were exposed, need a root canal done. If the tooth hurts so much, it may require root canal done to stop the pain. You can try using the paste for sensitive teeth. It can take up to 3 weeks in the results noted.
