Since your question did a week ago is probably already sought a solution to your problem , hopefully you feel better . Viral infections such as influenza are often associated with myalgia (muscle pain) and it is not uncommon suffering neck pain with these diseases. Unfortunately, this can make the process of determining if you have meningitis ( an inflammation of the membranes surrounding the brain ) which is usually an occasional complication of viral infections . Unlike bacterial meningitis , viral meningitis is not usually fatal, but can affect you much . If you have a severe headache , vomiting and sensitivity to light , and if the stiffness in his neck prevents him from touching her chin to chest (ie , facing his feet ) , seek medical attention .
